 Movies Under the Stars!

The summer outdoor film series will run June through August. All feature films will be preceded by live music and a locally produced short film.

And if that is enough Free Movies to take in this summer The Gallivan Center in Downtown Salt Lake is also providing a great venue of Free Movies every Monday night in July. 

Gallivan Center has quite the reputation for exciting, free events all summer long. This year we decided to help your entertainment dollar stretch further by adding Monday Night Movies. Enjoy the warm weather with family and friends at outdoor movies each Monday night. These free events will take place at Gallivan Center’s outdoor cinema.

Every Monday in July witness the classic murder mysteries and psychological thrillers that could only be brought to you by the man who embodies the suspense genre, Alfred Hitchcock. So bring your blankets, pillows, lawn chairs, family, friends, girlfriends and boyfriends to Gallivan’s Monday Night Movies this July.

14th Annual Bike Bonanza

UTA Rideshare is hosting its 14th Annual Bike Bonanza at Gallivan Plaza in downtown Salt Lake City on Friday, March 15th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

As in past events there will be fun, food and prizes throughout the evening. Stop by the UTA Rideshare booth to get your ticket for the drawings. Prize drawings will be held approximately every 15 minutes throughout the evening for bike gear, Bike Bonanza T-Shirts and more.

Adults and children are invited to enjoy a host of bike-related activities, including free helmets for the first 75 kids, contests to win free bicycles, electric bike kits and bike tune-ups, and a tricycle contest.

Below is the schedule for the events:

•  4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Tricycle Time Trial –for kids of ALL ages and sizes!
•  5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Cyclo Show and Go – where you can demo modified bicycles
•  7:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Bicycle Style Show – bikes, commuter wear and recreational wear
•  7:30 p.m.(approx) Main Drawing for Electric Bike Kit, and Three (3) Bikes!

Visit the many vendor and information booths and be sure to stop by Papa John’s booth for a slice of Pizza or by the Creamies booth for one of your favorite ice cream bars while your bicycle is in having a tune-up and don’t forget to pick up your Salt Lake Century Ride packet!

Nestled in a square area surrounded by some of Salt Lake’s tallest buildings, this outdoor center offers an ongoing variety of events that change with the seasons and provide activities for visitors of all ages. Artwork in bronze relief, frequent concerts, and an evolving glass-block bridge please those who like to watch their entertainment, while a giant chess board, a winter season ice-rink, and numerous festivals entice those who prefer to participate.

The Gallivan Center is one of those important downtown spots that keep Salt Lake’s downtown area active. Since its completion in 1993, the center has hosted loads of free concerts, Monday-night movie screenings, food festivals, ice skating and more.

The Gallivan Center provides a focal point for the downtown crowd to gather for lunch or a short reprieve from the day’s hectic work schedule. Special events such as exhibits, fairs, performances, parades, festivals and holiday celebrations make the Gallivan Center a lively and exciting gathering place year-round for Salt Lakers. 

The amphitheater at the Gallivan Center plays host to a variety of concerts throughout the year, including the popular Twilight Series offered Thursday evenings mid-July through mid-August.

During the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, the Gallivan Center was one of the busiest hotspots in downtown. The Gallivan Center continues to be the year-round urban gathering spot for residents and visitors.
